During our unit called “Local Eats: Canadian Perspectives”, our class watched the documentary Before the Plate, which focuses on the people, places, stories and systems that are involved in the journey that our ingredients take before they arrive on our plate from a Canadian perspective, within a Canadian context.
In groups, we created infographics to showcase a few of the ingredients covered in the documentary. The infographics below explore the farm to table journey for a variety of ingredients – covering different factors like geography, history, technology, climate, the economy that are at play. These infographics hope to inspire curiousity and future questions about where your food comes from, how it is grown and who grows it – before it arrives on your plate.
