Fish and Chips

On Sunday afternoon, around 3pm, my dad and I showed up to visit my grandparents. My grandma was planning on making fish and chips (with my help of course). Part of the day consisted of going back and forth between the kitchen and the living room- checking up between my grandma and the tv. She deep fried some fish and put me in charge of chopping up the potatoes into fries. Immediately the kitchen started smelling like a real kitchen.

Once she was done with the fish, she deep fried the fries. Soon enough, all the food was prepared and set on the table; Fish, fries, salad and drinks. The salad, which she put together earlier, was your typical healthy salad-spinach, tomatoes, and all. The four of us ate, and my grandma grabbed a sauce from the cupboard. I found out that McDonald’s Filet O Fish sauce actually tasted great with fish and chips. Considering I’m usually not a fan of fish, it also blew my mind. My grandma toppled nearly half of the fries onto my plate and I didn’t complain.

Over the food, we talked about different things; mostly the food itself. We heard golf on the tv through the door and talked over it. I finished eating last and we all thanked my grandma for preparing the meal. There were no leftovers. We resumed our tv watching in the living room, with me taking my rightful spot on the couch and my granddad taking his near the window to watch for anything interesting happening on the street. That just about wraps up our meal.
