Commerce Gate, a heavenly place that is filled with many go to popular asian restaurants such as Chatime, The Alley, Coco, Asian Legend, Korean BBQ, and many more but this restaurant that I am about o feature is a more low-key. Chinese Dumpling House is a family run restaurants known for their dumplings (who would’ve thought lol) but also for their many authentic asian cuisines. The restaurant is clean, austere and is clearly all about the food. Closely packed tables leave just enough space for the servers to squeeze in and out with the orders, while a bevy of cooks behind the counter rapidly prepare the dim sum for baking, steaming and frying. The atmosphere is loud, family friendly , and the aroma of dumplings is in the air.

My meal started with some piping hot Jasmine Tea and Steamed Leek and Egg Dumplings ($7.99). These large, crested dumplings are so big they require some effort to manage with chopsticks. If you can get one of these in your mouth, expect an explosion of succulence, especially with their in house chilli oil on top.

Up next is a very unique appetizer that might get you thinking how it was discovered; Cucumber with Jelly Fish, yes Jelly Fish. They’re very delicious but rather weird at first. You might a little tea after this because its very salty!

Although Chinese Dumpling House is known for their dumplings, they offer a variety of our meals such as noodles, fried rice, dessert, hot pots, and many more catering to all kinds of customers. One of my go to dishes when eating here has to be the fried pancake with chives, eggs, and dried shrimps. Personally I like to dip it in my secret sauce consisting of soy sauce mixed with chilli oil to provide that salty, spicy, savoury taste.

To finish off a great dinner, I ordered some dessert and tea to help cleanse my palate. This dish is the perfect combination of hot and sweet. The crispy outside pancake adds an extra texture to the dish making it more enjoyable in my opinion. The red bean paste is sweet but not so sweet that it over powers the entire dish. The hot tea helps balance the sweetness from the pancake.

Overall I would say my experience at Chinese Dumpling House was great. Being able to eat good food while having conversation with families, friends is a great way to spend your day! I would definitely recommend coming here to enjoy some fresh, tasty dumplings!
All the food here looks amazing! I love Chinese food, especially dumplings. I also eat jellyfish occasionally, and even though people think it’s really weird, it’s actually pretty good. Next time I go to Commerce Gate for bubble tea, I will make sure to come here to eat, too!
