My not-so first experience at The Keg!

I recently visited my local Keg restaurant this past Saturday at 4:30 pm with my brother and parents. In no way was this my first time visiting this self-proclaimed premium, formal seated restaurant; it’s definitely not my first rodeo. I go there to celebrate any special occasion (birthdays, March break, end of school and summer)… so I really have gotten a good idea as to what The Keg is all about.

As soon as you walk in, you are greeted kindly by the host/hostess and if available, they take you to your seat (luxurious booth or table). The entire restaurant is filled with tasteful light fixtures (dimmed to add an ambience of course), hardwood floors and extremely clean washrooms! The noise level is quite calm but not too quiet… just the right amount! This all adds up to a fantastic experience!

The Keg is superb with the array of items on the menu, including soups, salads, seafood, steak (what I would call their “specialty”) and plenty of desserts such as cheesecake, brownies, chocolate fudge cake, ice cream and specialty desserts like creme brulee.

The Keg is known for being a relaxed, formal restaurant with very delicious meals that anyone will enjoy. A wait staff takes your order (gives water and a steaming fresh loaf of bread as you are waiting for main courses to be served). Once the entrees have been delivered, it is easy to see the effort put into the dish (which becomes apparent when paying the bill; although, very justifiable). The food is delicately arranged on the plate, no matter the meal and is steaming hot which is very important, at least I think it’s important when it comes to eating steak and/or any other hot meal.

Since I consider myself a “regular” Keg goer, I ordered my usual. The filet mignon. It comes beautifully prepared with juicy bacon wrapped steak, grilled vegetables (sweet, red bell peppers and green beans), and a double-baked potato (baked potato with all stuffings → sour cream, chives and bacon, all mixed in and baked once more to give an extra delicious flavour).
